The Art of Apologies
Sometimes we stick our foot in our mouth and we leave someone feeling upset or hurt. When it is time for that apology remember these concepts and watch as conflict turns into closeness.
1) If you now feel offended that your comments offended someone – put yourself in check. It is not about you- it is about what your words made someone else feel- own it.
2) Intent doesn’t matter more than impact- if you hurt someone don’t tell them you didn’t mean it that way -simply apologize and try to see it from their perspective- own it!
3) Accept accountability- you did the thing- now it is time to apologize sincerely.
4) Don’t repeat this same error- you just learned how this comment affected someone so don’t put that person in the same pain again.
